Hi friend,

Weekend food should feel helpful, not like another job.

This lineup gives you one bake, one dinner and plenty of ideas for next week.

But first - this starts tomorrow!

Free Summer Cooking and Life Skills Camp

If your kids want to help more in the kitchen this summer, Life Skills Season 5 is worth a look.

My girls did this virtual summer camp three years in a row and loved it. I did too - especially the session on cleaning the kitchen!

This free online camp includes short, practical workshops on cooking, baking, meal planning, kitchen confidence, money skills and simple household jobs.

A few that caught my eye:

  • Veggie-loaded double chocolate muffins
  • Homemade gellies
  • A pasta salad bar for busy summer days
  • Allergy-friendly blueberry oat cake
  • Grain-free brownies
  • Blackberry lemon mint shrub
  • Meal planning
  • Homemade cleaners
  • Budget-friendly gardening
  • Simple money lessons for kids and teens

There are also quick lessons on laundry, cleaning, organizing and other skills that help kids become more capable around the house.

The free camp runs from June 8 to 12, but registration now gives you early access to several workshops. No credit card is required, and the lessons are short enough to fit around summer plans.

Love The Fats You Were Told To Fear?

Butter, lard and tallow have a messy reputation, but many traditional kitchens relied on them for good reason.

The School of Traditional Skills is hosting a free two-hour online training with Carolyn Thomas (yes, Abigail Thomas' mom!) called The Fats You Were Told to Fear on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 4 p.m. EST.

She’ll explain why fat became the villain, how traditional fats can fit into a real-food kitchen and one budget-friendly swap you can try this week.

If you’ve been trying to cook more from scratch, cut back on processed oils and make meals that actually keep your family full, this is worth saving a seat for.

No-Knead Artisan Cheese Bread
